Country football league embraces afls indigenous round ball

The idea behind the afls native round ball is that it is based on the indigenous round ball's shape. However, some argue that this is inaccurate because native round balls are oval and so it is difficult to replicate them.

Afls believes that this is only a matter of perspective and it does not mean the league will not be a success in developing international teams.

"It's about having a team that is going to show the national teams that if they want to sign someone then they can do it. So there will be teams that can play here because if they are international they will be able to play here, that's what we are after."

He added, "One of the advantages for the afls is that there will be players available. For example, if you want to sign a player like Michael Essien then you can sign that person here.

"If you want to sign players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic who I think is a quality player, then you can sign that player here. So the challenge is going to be the availability of the players to the players that are available.

"So for example, if you sign a striker, who was already at the club because he is international then maybe you will need him elsewhere or bring him in as a late player so we will need to find that balance."

Rehabilitation centre planned for wellington

SUPPLIED A sign of progress under construction on the Wellington Rehabilitation Centre.

"The project is one of the most important steps in improving a community's access to health care.

"We want people to know they can expect to receive the same quality of care they've got today.

"A small fraction of patients will still be waiting for services today, and that's not the way we want it.

"I understand our commitment to our community.

"As a father to six children, I understand how much effort is put into the health and safety of patients and staff.

"There's nothing in my heart that will ever take me off the hospital property.

"I will never see my children again unless I die at Wellington Hospital.

"We've had a lot of time for conversation."

Cheryl Ainsworth is also among the volunteers who signed up for a week of meetings with staff and volunteers that will take place from the evening of July 6.

Ms Ainsworth, of Wellington, said there would be more time between today and the announcement of any new hospital projects.

"We've got more to go at Wellington Hospital but we have been able to make time to think.

"We are a family, a community, and that's what we're doing."

Ms Ainsworth said her husband and child, a father-of-two named Barry, were given a chance to talk about their experience and she did not feel the need to take notes.

Wellington resident Andy McAlister said he was "satisfied" with the plans for the rehabilitation centre.

"I don't understand how such an unprofessional and incompetent hospital can be allowed to develop a model which is not supported by the latest evidence," Mr McAlister said.

He was concerned for the safety and wellbeing of staff, patients and the community.

Mr McAlister was not one of the staff members contacted for an interview but has expressed disappointment on social media with suggestions about his experience.

The Wellington Community Hospital has not responded to requests for comment.
